Terms of service
Terms of service
Last updated: 14 July 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Leftyland. Leftyland is operated by Joshua David Lawson, a sole trader trading as appy lad (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Leftyland.
Who can use Leftyland
You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account. Leftyland is a marketplace where members buy and sell gear with each other, and that is not a place for children. By registering you confirm you are 18 or over and that the details you give us are accurate.
What Leftyland is, and what it is not
Leftyland does two main things. It runs a database of guitars and basses that records whether a model is made left-handed and where you can buy one, and it hosts a marketplace and community where members list gear and talk to each other.
When members buy and sell, Leftyland is only the venue. We are not a party to the sale, we do not take payment, we hold no money in escrow, and we do not check, own, store or ship any item. The contract for any sale is strictly between the buyer and the seller. We are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality or description of anything listed, or for whether a buyer or seller actually does what they say they will.
Your account
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- One account per person. Do not impersonate anyone or pretend to be another member.
- Some features open up as your standing on the site grows. Standing reflects your history here and is at our discretion.
Listings, posts and your content
You keep ownership of everything you post, whether that is a listing, a photo or a message. By posting it you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and display it on Leftyland so the site can work. If a listing photo is linked to a model in the gear database, it may also be shown as example imagery for that model, separate from your listing. You can turn this off at any time in settings, and doing so removes any photos of yours already shown that way. You are responsible for your own content, and you confirm you have the right to post it.
What you list and post must follow some basic rules. Do not:
- list stolen, counterfeit, recalled or otherwise illegal goods;
- misdescribe an item, hide known faults, or post misleading prices;
- list things that have nothing to do with musical instruments and gear;
- post content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, or infringes someone else’s rights;
- spam, scrape, or try to break, overload or work around the site’s security;
- use Leftyland to scam, phish, or move a deal off-site to defraud someone.
Buying and selling safely
Because we do not handle payment, how you pay is up to you and the other member, and it carries risk. Keep your conversation on Leftyland so there is a record, be wary of anyone pushing you to move to email or a messaging app, and never send money by bank transfer up front to someone you do not know. Meet in a safe place for local deals, and use a payment method with buyer protection where you can. If something feels wrong, stop and report it.
Affiliate links
Some outbound “buy” links to shops and marketplaces are affiliate links, and we may earn a small commission if you buy through them at no extra cost to you. This never affects the gear data or how models are ranked. See the affiliate disclosure for the full explanation.
Moderation and ending your account
We can remove content, and suspend or close accounts, where someone breaks these terms or where we reasonably need to protect members or the site. You can close your account at any time by contacting us.
Disclaimers and liability
Leftyland is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise the gear data is complete or error-free, or that the site will always be up. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or from any dealing between members.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site grows. When we make a meaningful change we will update the date at the top, and your continued use after that means you accept the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
